May meets the opening of the summer season in most areas in Corfu Island. Although it is a quiet month, it is very popular to the visitors seeking tranquillity on their holiday. May attracts people, who enjoy activities close to the nature, such as rambling, walking and cycling, as the features of the weather are sunny days and temperatures lower of 20º.
The very hot or cold weather are unusual during May, but it can happen rarely.
As the month is passing through, the weather is getting a bit warmer (around 20º). There are some rainy days as well, but they are not lasting for a long time. Still, even the rain is charming, whilst you are on holiday in Corfu.
June is even warmer with temperatures over 20º. The school holidays at the end of May beginning of June make Corfu busier, but still, it is a wonderful time to visit the island, especially should you wish to avoid the very high temperatures and the busiest months of July and August. The sea is much warmer than in May, the most days are full of sunshine and the rain appears occasionally. Bring your jumper, as the nights are cool.
Nearly at the end of June the weather is warm with temperatures around 30º, warm days and the feeling of the cool breeze from the sea is really pleasant at night, whilst you are enjoying a traditional meal in one of the beachside tavernas.
In July Corfu is getting busier. The temperatures are getting higher with an average to 30º. The air-conditioning is a highly recommended facility for the selection of your holiday accommodation. The school holidays begin, and Corfu is welcoming families with children of all ages. The days are pleasantly sunny and some of them with temperatures over 35º. The sea is really warm. The cicadas’ appearances with its unique «singing» announce that the heart of summer is here. The nights are warm, but the humidity sometimes makes them hotter.
August is one of the busiest months as well. The temperatures average to 30 º – 40º. The weather is really hot. During August, a few tropical storms are lasting just a couple of hours. On the second half, the temperatures are getting lower with an average to 30º. We advise that air/conditioning is still a must.
September is one of the most attractive months for Corfu holidays. The intensive rhythms from the lively months of July and August have been replaced from tranquillity. The sea is still warm and the weather is getting cooler with temperatures around 30º and for the second half around 20º. Remember to bring your jumper for the nights.
October is ideal for those who enjoy the relaxation and serenity on their holidays, as it is the quieter month of the summer season. The temperatures averages to 20º and for the second half lower to 20º. The weather is clear, the sea is sufficiently warm, as most of the days are sunny, although the rain is very possible. Most of the resorts in Corfu close, but there are some of them, which are still welcoming the visitors till the end of the month, such as Kalami and Kassiopi.
The winter in Corfu is mild with the lower temperatures’ averages to 5º. The humidity sometimes makes it very cold. There are plenty days of sunshine, but the rain may not stop for days.
